Salta mixes flavours from many places fearlessly but sensibly, and the MICHELIN Guide noticed: it's recommended by the MICHELIN Guide. It's on Rua Rodrigo da Fonseca, between Rato and Marquês de Pombal, and keeps a €€ price level. A good reason to leave the historic centre and dine where Lisbon locals dine.
The cooking and the experience
Fusion here doesn't mean confusion. The kitchen crosses techniques and seasonings from different origins with a clear idea behind it, and the result is food with personality and good humour. The menu moves with the seasons, so ask about the day's suggestions.
It's a cuisine made for sharing. Order several dishes for the table and swap forkfuls, the most fun way to get to know it. The €€ level helps you order generously.
The room and what to expect
The atmosphere is relaxed and buzzing, good for dinner with friends or a work lunch that doesn't feel like work. No formalities and no dress code. Expect an à la carte meal at the pace of the conversation.
Being in a more residential and office area, it has a lot of local customers. A great way to see everyday Lisbon, far from the tram queues.
Between Rato and Marquês
Rua Rodrigo da Fonseca is a few steps from Parque Eduardo VII, the great stepped lawn overlooking Avenida da Liberdade and the river. At the top, the Estufa Fria is an oasis of plants that surprises those who don't know it. On the other side, Amoreiras holds the Jardim das Amoreiras and the Mãe d'Água reservoir, linked to the Águas Livres Aqueduct.
Walking down Avenida da Liberdade, between shops and terraces, is a good plan for digesting. Rato and Marquês de Pombal metro stations are close, so getting there and back is simple.
